Hong Kong weather is classified as humid subtropical, with monsoon influenced conditions. There are four distinct seasons in Hong Kong, summer, spring, autumn and winter.

Winter
Winter weather in Hong Kong is cool, dry, and clear during the early half of winter. During the later half Hong Kong weather is characteristically overcast and occasional cold fronts are experienced. During this time of the year, weather in Hong Kong is largely modified by the effects of the North-northeasterly monsoons. Average daily temperature during winter is 17C. Positioned at sea level, Hong Kong is virtually snow and frost free, both conditions unlikely to appear as sub zero temperatures very rarely occur. Rainfall during winter is nearly non existent.

Spring
Hong Kong weather during spring is characterized by warm humid days, and is between the months of March to mid-May. Fog and drizzle are also present causing reduced visibility, forcing authorities to occasionally cancel air and ferry services. Average daily temperature is 23C and evenings are cooler. During the springtime precipitation increases.

Summer
Summer weather in Hong Kong is influenced by the south-southwest monsoon and is characterized by very hot days and abundant levels of precipitation. Summer is during the months from May to the mid-September, with daily temperatures averaging 28C. The hottest months of the year are June through to September, with temperatures reaching between 26 and 34 °C and humidity levels standing at between 60–70% during the day, and soaring to almost unbearable heights when evening sets in. The rainy season in Hong Kong runs from June to August.

During summer thunderstorms and heavy rain are common, and the occasional typhoon may strike in summer and early autumn.

Autumn
Hong Kong weather in autumn is normally filled with sunshine and less rain. Humidity levels are at a low during autumn, and temperatures are mild and warm. Autumn is considered the best time to visit Hong Kong.
